Cumberland Family Medical Centers Trains School-Based Health Center Staff
August 21, 2018
KHCN member Cumberland Family Medical Centers (CFMC) operates more than 90 community health center locations across Kentucky. CFMC provides comprehensive health care services, which includes school-based health centers. Healthy Kids Clinics are located in 10 school districts in central Kentucky, with two more to be added this fall/winter. It is expected that the Clinics will touch the lives of 43,0000 students during the 2018 – 2019 school year, with 40,000 medical encounters, 14,000 dental encounters, and 10,000 behavioral health encounters.
To prepare for a busy year, CFMC hosted a three-day summer training for school-based health center staff in Russell Springs at the Russell County Auditorium / Natatorium Complex (ANC). Attendance included staff from the school districts and central offices, Healthy Kids Clinics staff, and CFMC administration. Training was provided by CFMC providers and staff, Kentucky Department of Education, physicians from Norton Children’s Hospital, and physicians from several University of Louisville pediatrics departments. Continuing education credits were also provided.
The Healthy Kids Clinics of CFMC are excited to keep students healthier, ready to learn, and achieving at their highest level.
